Morphological Characteristics
:
Numerous trichocysts and net-shaped
scares at the surface of armours. Nucleus normally at the part near epitheca.
Numerous chloroplasts which are in yellowish brown.
Distribution :
Cosmopolitan, can be found in temperate,
subtropical and tropical waters. Widely distributed in the sheltered waters
of South China Sea and the coastal waters of Hong Kong. Might cause red
tide at the coast of Guangdong Province.
Toxicity :
Non-toxic, may cause oxygen depletion
at high cell concentration. |
